The Big Shit.

There are lots of concerning things happening in the world. I try not to consume news I don't act on, because it stresses me out. So here's what I'm trying to do to reduce worldsuck and some resources that might help you in your own efforts.

What's possible?

So many people are panicked right now.

And rightfully so.

The news seems dire.

The only way I've maintained the ability to move, though, amidst paralyzing true, human, horror stories, is to focus on the helpers, those who are coming up with ideas and trying to make things better.

It's good for my hope, health, and sanity.

To start, an organization called 80,000 hours offers listings of humanity's most important and solvable problems and how to use one's career to impact them.

I, however, haven't really taken the scientific advice. I've followed my heart and head and people I love. My priorities and rationales are these. They are imperfect and ever developing.

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
