Who: You, some friends and instructor Alex Muck

What: Swing Dance 101, a specifically-designed-for-brand-new-dancers class that will cover the basics of social swing dancing. You'll know enough by the end to comfortably visit any local swing dance group and feel like you're ready to join in the fun! You'll also know enough to impress people on dance floors at family weddings. :)

Where: Bundle @ 51 Main St. in downtown Middlebury, VT.

When: Friday, Sept. 12 from 7-9 pm.

How much? The cost is $50 per person for the workshop, but please be in touch if cost is a challenge. There are other local lessons that may be a great fit—free, open-to-the-community, larger-group lessons and dancing are hosted at Middlebury College during the school year. That said, if this particular workshop with its smaller size and personal, adult-beginners-focused instruction feels like the right fit, please let me know, and we can work out a way for you to attend!

More comfortable with private lessons? Feel free to contact me, and I can either schedule a private lesson depending on timing, or direct you toward local dance organizations that could help you find an instructor.

No excuses, no nervousness, no experience, and no partner needed. Seriously!

We'll rotate partners, you'll be with a group of friendly people who are also there to learn, and coordination can be learned! It's not some sort of magical in-born prerequisite. :)

In the words of a favorite instructor of mine, "You have to go through stupid to get to cool!" and "As long as no one's getting hurt, there are no mistakes in swing, only new moves."

Finally, please note that I'm gonna be doing my darndest to make this an LGBT+ affirming space, so please come prepared to experience any gender leading and/or following, and to write out a little name badge with your name and the gender pronouns you use (examples: she/her, they/them, he/his, etc). If any of that makes you uncomfy, this might not be the dance workshop for you.
