In no particular order, here are some poems I very much enjoy and hope you will, too.
"So don’t waste my time and your curses on verses about what you are against, despise, and abhor. Tell me what inspires you, what fulfills and fires you, put your gaddamn pen to paper and tell me what you’re for!"
"Let the belief that hope belongs to us all Be the pledge you take to make the unachievable as inconceivable as the false fact that We were never here We were here And our memories are as dear to us as every slow motion moment or held breath So remember every instance before death Every first kiss, first dance, near miss, last chance, yes, no, maybe so Let us go the distance once more Let us remember all the moments that were and were not Like the point is something we can get and what we can get is what we got"
"See, some guys prefer arses, some prefer tits, and I am not saying that I don’t like those bits. But what’s more important, what supersedes is a girl with passion, wit and dreams. So I like a girl who reads.”
The end of this one. You just have to watch it. No quotes for you.
"I suppose you're wondering what we're doing here
under this comforter
Well the truth is, darling, I am about to fart."
It starts like that. But then it will make you cry. And not from the stench.
"I was never taught what laws there are Let me repeat - I was not taught the laws for the country I live in But I know how Henry the VIII killed his women Divorced beheaded died, divorced beheaded survived Glad that’s in my head instead of financial advice"
If this one doesn't make you feel something you should definitely make sure your heart hasn't been replaced by a clod of dirt.
Also, some non-video poems.
"Before You Knew You Owned It" by Alice Walker
"Expect nothing. Live frugally On surprise."
"A Psalm of Life" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
"Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait."
These are some of my collected favorite poems, which is not to say that they're the best, or the truest. It's simply to say that they move me and/or motivate me. They've given me plenty to chew on; I hope you enjoy them as well. Please share your own in the comments!
